Ultan's "All in good time" Review

It’s blistering rock anthem “All in Good Time” does exactly as its title suggests — acts as a rock anthem, channelling the raw, defiant spirit of early 2000s rock that evokes Green Day and Linkin Park. Tracks are exploding with uncontained beats and searing guitar riffs which take sharp turns and mutation, keeping the audience guessing. Ultan provides a powerhouse of vocals– gritty, passionate, conviction exuding, keeping the song’s invigorating momentum at a high throughout.

Inspired by Ultan's creative struggles (namely scrapped video projects that left him reaching for the fire extinguisher), the song turns frustration into a rallying cry for us all. On the songwriting, he says it’s a mystery, the riff just sparked while the chorus appeared naturally and fits the track’s message: even with missed deadlines and wasted efforts, inspiration can occur if you don’t give up. Its call to perseverance feels deeply personal and at the same time, obviously relatable, because this is an organic process that is infused into the song.

Something nefarious threads through ‘All in Good Time’: Some cathartic edge is worked in, Ultan appears to be exorcising his demons through the music and inviting the listeners to do the same. This constant reminder that setbacks are temporary and with grit we can rise above them. That being said, as someone who has tackled my own creative road blocks in my own life, had the track been in my collection on my iPod I can literally see myself putting the volume up and doing life with a big old 'Yes I can' attitude.

Closing “All in Good Time” is of course a shining personal triumph for Ultan, but really this is the ultimate gift to anyone needing a spark to keep pushing forward. With the heart, the purpose and an unrelenting fire, it’s rock  with purpose, unapologetic and is a standout release that proves you can sound as good as you feel.
