In the world of German music, Para Lia dropped their new single “Neverland” and it sets in like a total rock ‘n’ roll thunderstorm. From the first note these wild roaring guitars and a drumbeat that’s just relentless grab you in this psychedelic banger. There are no soft intros here, though, it feels like the band’s trying to tell the listener to buckle up and be dragged through this dark, vibey world.
Mixing this raw, in your face energy with super intricate sounds and when the vocals come in; kinda dreamy, kinda haunting, they just turn this psych rock magic up to ten. This raw yet polished energy, just hits, is brought by the band, René Methner on guitar, vocals and synth; Cindy Methner on vocals and a super talented crew of musicians. Music video absolutely knocks this dead on live show vibes blending these crazy visuals with the song’s wild sounds to drag you into it. Para Lia’s saying is like, ‘Here’s our world we’d like to share it with you for a bit’.
But ‘Neverland’s moody pull and big ideas are ones that stick with you after it has ended. It’s a hard hitting extra addition to Para Lia’s lineup, which any new goers into their stuff could use to jump in and then see they are still very much leading the pack in Germany’s indie scene. Gritty, poetic, and just impossible to ignore, this is psych–rock with a purpose.
