It must be noted that ”In Waves” is an even more inspired record than its predecessor and brings a new spark to the dance music. This album is a perfect cacophony of deep and pulsating 808s, asynchronous synths, shuffled hi hats and imperceptible bass drops sprayed with shiny platitudes and topped with vigorous lyrics to enable patrons to get lost on the dance floor. Every track is an example of the perfect combination of electronic music and emotions which is characteristic of Jamie. The production is thoughtful with the beats right and the vox having an exciting listen through that offers the feeling of celebration, togetherness. On “In Waves”, Jamie xx convinces again that he is one of the main protagonists of modern music proposing a sound trip that accompanies you even when a song is over.
