The PSYCHEDELIKA Pt.1 of the New Citizen Kane is like immersing yourself into the vortex of colours and feelings, every time hearing the song you find out more and more about your own interior world, like the discovery of the rooms that you hadn't seen since you were a child and where your own secrets were kept.
This 17-track masterpiece, the first chapter of two-part epic, makes music a multifaceted gateway, forming a combination of the introspective folk-tinged tunes with surreal electronic impulses, which are in the exploration of the frailty of love, the clutches of anxiety, cogitating philosophies, illusions of the nightlife, and unyielding tenacity.
Since the mantra-esque intro Welcome to Psychedelika, which calls you to his side as the sweetest whisper showing you the way through unknown realms, up to the meditative Here, Now, which makes you feel the storm of distraction, every single song is vibrating with pure authenticity. My Muse and Afterglow face the challenge of creative revival and fear with an artistic lancing of ancient wounds to allow the healing light to pour in, and Heads Are Round spins around with the chaos of the mind, neon storm and thought in its fluid motion.
Dark escapism is concealed behind euphoric rhythms in Ratbag Joy and the bitter-sweet finality of a party: escape and at the same time, trap, and it is the bluntness of heartbreak revealed in tearing pages of a diary saturated in unresolved grief that is the subject of Bite The Bullet.
Standouts such as "Well, Damn! Here You Are/ Subconscious are a snare of temptation and regrets of disco, beat like forbidden heartbeats, and Push The Fear Out is a reversal of prejudice and a scatter of fears as a liberating wind. Songs such as "San Diego," "Eyes Wide Shut," "Whispering Tango," "As Within, So Without," "It's Saturday and I'm High," "Cafe Life," "I Don't Need To Say" and bonus, "Boots" intertwine the motifs of disconnection, desire and humour into a tapestry which is intimate and at the same time expansive.
In addition to the music, the companion app, videos, games, mindfulness functionality, and community make fandom group investigation akin to initiating oneself into a secret society where art heals. The visuals and incense used as part of the direct-to-fan vision by Kane add even more immersion to it, with my spirit feeling refreshed, revisiting these portals again with a new understanding of connexion and with yet another desire.
